Programme Details

This apprenticeship equips newly appointed Warehouse Operatives looking to develop the essential foundation skills and knowledge required to effectively handle goods safely in and out of storage facilities, put stock away in the correct locations and accurately pick products in accordance with orders received.

The apprenticeship is also suitable for apprentices who have been working within the industry for a short period of time and are looking to further develop their knowledge and understanding of the industry.

The apprenticeship will broaden learners knowledge of the transport and logistics industry as whole, whilst developing competence in communication and team working.

Your apprentice will have this apprenticeship delivered through tutor led workshops and self-directed online learning modules on our bespoke learning platform OLLIE.

All apprentices will be provided with a structured learning plan including their 12 weekly progress reviews.

Entry Requirements

Your learner must be exposed to relevant work experience in their current role to be able to meet the standards of the apprenticeship. We require all candidates to achieve Level 1 maths and English by the end of this programme, as well as upskill to Level 2.For those who do not already hold and have evidence of Maths or English at grade C/4 or equivalent, they will be required to take an online initial assessment to determine whether they are eligible to be enrolled on programme.

The course content includes a range of topics which make up the variety of knowledge, skills and behaviours of what makes for a highly competent and professional Supply Chain Warehouse Operative.
The training delivery will cover a range of topics, including the following:
• Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring that any hazards are controlled or removed in line with organisational procedures
• Move and store goods safely, securely and efficiently to the designated location, utilising mechanical handling equipment and personal protective equipment.
• Ensure that goods are handles and stored in compliance with the relevant safety and regulatory standards.
• Record relevant information on organisational warehouse management system in a timely manner.
• Support in scheduled and unscheduled stock taking and counting activities, raising any discrepancies with line manager.
• Participate in briefing and handover sessions to support achievement of organisational performance targets.
• Ensure that the reduction, re-use, return and recycle principles of packaging are applied in line with organisational procedures.

Learner Journey

The Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship typically takes 12 months to complete. The programme includes “on-programme learning” followed by assessment for Gateway. The learner will be provided with a clear scheme of work, which will set out the scheduled classroom and online sessions, 1-2-1 reviews, Tutor observations and mock End Point Assessments. If required, the learner must also complete training towards maths and English qualifications.

End Point Assessment

The final milestone of the learning journey comprises a multifaceted End Point Assessment which can take up to three months. It comprises of:

Interview with portfolio of evidence: In the interview, an independent assessor asks the learner questions. It gives the learner the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours they have learnt throughout the apprenticeship. The learner can refer to and illustrate their answers with evidence from their portfolio of evidence.

Observation with questions: In the observation with questions, an independent assessor observes the learner in their workplace and asks questions. The learner completes their day-to-day duties under normal working conditions. This gives the learner the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours mapped to this assessment method.
