LGV/HGV Skills Bootcamps are government-funded training courses designed for individuals new to driving large goods vehicles (LGV/HGV), or for those seeking to advance with license progression.
Three courses, referred to as ‘PATHWAYS’, are available.
- Novice to CAT C (Class 2) – PATHWAY A
- Novice to CAT C+E (Class 1) – PATHWAY B
- CAT C to CAT C+E (Class2 to Class 1) – PATHWAY D
Funding Options Explained
Option 1. You are employed and your current employer has a new job role for you once you have completed your training and gained a new licence. This option is partially funded by the government, your employer will be asked to contribute 10% (if they have under 250 employees) or 30% (if they have over 250 employees).
Option 2. You are employed, but you want your new licence to allow you to move to another employer or you may be unemployed. This option is fully funded by the government, but you must have connected with a new employer (not an employment agency) before you can apply.
Option 3. You are self-employed and you want your new licence to develop/enhance your business. This option is fully funded by the government, but you will need to provide information regarding the future benefits to you business.
To successfully complete your Skills Bootcamp journey, can you commit to all of the below:
- Attend an ONLINE induction.
- Complete 20 hrs of ONLINE theory learning.
- Be able to take time off to attend a medical & theory tests.
- 5 days practical driver training (Novice to CAT C or CAT C upgrade to CAT C+E)
- 10 days practical driver training (Novice to CAT C+E)
The training above takes place over approximately 16 weeks. Funding rules apply, therefore progress is monitored throughout and failure to abide by these requirements will result in withdrawal from the Skills Bootcamp journey.
