SP Training Set To Deliver New DVSA-Supported Qualifications

Specialist logistics training provider SP Training will deliver the first instructor and examiner training courses as part of the new VTCT Skills for Logistics qualifications.

The DVSA recently announced its support for the VTCT Skills – Register of Logistics Instructors (RLI) and SP Training is one of the first Approved Examination Centres for the scheme.

The register is independently run by VTCT Skills for Logistics and aims to evidence the skills and experience of heavy vehicle driver trainers. It encompasses three separate professional qualifications providing a direct line of sight to job and career progression: Driver Assessors, Driver Trainer / Assessors and LGV Driving Instructors.

DVSA has worked with VTCT Skills for Logistics to set out the standards of instructional ability required of vocational driver trainers, in line with National Standards for LGV and PCV Driving.

Joining the register will help recognise and evidence the professional skills, knowledge and experience of heavy vehicle driver trainers.

Robin Brown, SP Training Chairman, said: “We welcome the new VTCT Skills for Logistics RLI qualifications which introduce consistent DVSA-aligned standards along with independent examination. This will help create a much-needed national network of qualified vocational driver training and assessment resource.

“There are many benefits to road transport businesses and operators of large fleets around helping professionalise and standardise driver training and assessment. We at SP Training are ready to deliver the required qualifications and help build the pool of training and examiner resource.”

By achieving the DVSA recognised RLI qualification, driver trainers on the register have demonstrated that they can deliver a consistently high-standard of vocational driver training and assessment. For further information visit www.rli.org.uk
